About This Round
PJ33 marks the change in Juno's trajectory to continue orbiting Jupiter rather than plunging into it. The approval for an extended mission means that the spacecraft will carry on orbiting Jupiter, although we will be changing the duration of the orbits.

Lightning images of the dark side of Jupiter will be taken on approach and departure. Images over the northern hemisphere have ever-improving resolution as the perijove latitude moves northward. White Spot Z will hopefully be in the JunoCam field of view. The spacecraft spends a longer time departing over the southern hemisphere allowing us to collect images to study Jupiter's atmospheric dynamics. We will image Clyde's Spot again, and it will be interesting to see how that storm has evolved.
A nice photo op of Io with Europa and Callisto in the image will be acquired. We will be looking for the shadow of Jupiter's ring on the cloudtops.

Perijove Predict Map
About Perijove Predict Maps

Every perijove pass we have the challenge of predicting where Points of Interest will be as the different zones of the planet have different wind velocities. This map shows our effort to rotate the latitudinal zones with their different wind speeds to predict what will be under the Juno groundtrack.
