JUNO CAPTURES TWO ACTIVE VOLCANIC PLUMES ON JUPITER’S MOON IO
NASA’s Juno spacecraft captured two volcanic plumes rising above the horizon of Jupiter's moon Io on Feb. 3, emitted either by two vents from one giant volcano, or two volcanoes near each other. The Juno team will be analyzing this against other data from Juno and from other missions to better understand this. The JunoCam instrument imaged the plumes on Feb. 3, from a distance of about 2,400 miles (3,800 kilometers).
