PJ22 image 15: North Circumpolar Cyclones

Two versions of image PJ22_15 processed from the raw image framelets.

The version at left is an approximately true color/contrast image.

In the version at right the effects of the variable solar illumination have been removed. Faintly visible features on the nightside just beyond the terminator are also included. They are illuminated by scattered light, mainly from Jupiter's blue sky. Therefore these areas appear bluish but some of the blue color may also be a processing artifact. The large scale color and brightness variations near the terminator are exaggerated and probably not all of them are real features. The processing nevertheless reveals various details in the dimly illuminated areas near the terminator and near Jupiter's north pole, includi
